And it's coming early next year!! PLUS it has a 7-second boot time!! Is there any other OS faster than that?? This video below includes a look at Chrome’s short boot time, some of the apps Chrome OS will be able to run, and the operating system’s interface. Google says that if you're a developer, has the right netbook and know-how, you can use their Chrome OS source code and have the OS run in your netbook now. Way cool!
The operating systems that browsers run on were designed in an era where there was no web. So today, we're announcing a new project that's a natural extension of Google Chrome — the Google Chrome Operating System. It's our attempt to re-think what operating systems should be.I'm very, very, very excited about this (as most tech-loving people are) and I just can't wait for 2010! The big question is: will this be FREE (it's open source after all) or will they charge a nominal fee for it? And how will Microsoft react to this? Do I smell a Microsoft versus Google war brewing? YEEHA!!
Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010.
Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. We're designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web.

Despite our best efforts, Gmail doesn't yet build itself. So we're looking for good people to keep making it better and better. It's fun and rewarding to work on a product that you, your friends, other people you know (and tens of millions of people someone else knows) use all the time. And if that's something you want to do, now you can learn more about what goes on behind the scenes and apply on our new hiring page.
It's hard to do on a static web page, but we wanted to give you a sense of what it's like to work on the team. Gmail was one of Google's first experimental forays outside of search, so boundary-pushing is part of our nature. We've developed new storage systems (Google never stored large amounts of user data before), new anti-spam systems (using machine learning technologies developed for search), and a new fast, modular, reusable Javascript architecture (Google never ran an AJAX app of this scale before). We try to push product boundaries, too, with lots of storage, integrated chat, and free IMAP -- stuff that just makes things better for users, even if it means an untraditional approach to business. And one of the best parts is that when you go out, people you actually know say, "Hey, I used [that thing you built]. It's cool." (And then they ask you why Gmail doesn't have folders.)Much more is in the works, and we're looking for help, so check out our jobs page and send in your resume.
A few days ago, I posted that Microsoft is buying Yahoo for $44.6 billion (full post HERE) but Yahoo is not too keen about the "takeover" and gave a curt statement about it --
Its Board of Directors will evaluate this proposal carefully and promptly in the context of Yahoo!'s strategic plans...I thought Apple will come to Yahoo's rescue (read my post HERE) but rumors say Google will be Yahoo's salvation! Check out the videos below and tell me what you think =)

Google Inc. co-founder Larry Page, whose stake in the Internet search leader is worth about $20 billion, and Lucy Southworth are tying the knot in a ceremony scheduled for the weekend of Dec. 8, according to a report published Tuesday in the San Francisco Chronicle.
Page, 34, is following in the footsteps of Google's other founder, Sergey Brin, who married Anne Wojcicki six months ago in an exclusive ceremony in the Caribbean. The location of Southworth's and Page's wedding was not disclosed.
After Brin's wedding, Mountain View-based Google invested $3.9 million in Wojcicki's biotechnology startup, 23andMe Inc.
Southworth was a biomedical informatics doctoral student at Stanford University, where both Page and Brin were studying as graduate students before leaving to start Google in 1998. Page has been dating Southworth for more than a year.
With all the Google PageRank downgrades, newbie bloggers like me are quite confused on how to measure my blog's worth now. But I stumbled on TrustRank recently and I had this site "analyzed" and the results? Check the photo above! One thing that bothers me however is I can't find TrustRank anymore. Search it in Google and all you'll get is a Wikipedia entry. What happened?? And there are also whispers that TrustRank is still by Google! Hmm..
The past few days, the online community was in uproar coz of the quarterly updating of Google's PageRank. Apparently PR of many blogs and websites went down because they have (or sell) text link ads. Or so the rumors go. During this time, I checked this blog's PR and it went from PR0 to PR3! w00t! As for my other 3 blogs, got great news! Quick Bytes is still at PR2, nice! Tongue Temptations (food blog) is barely a month old and it's now PR1. I'm also getting lots of hits from Google Search, nice! My mobile blog at yes, it's ME remained a PR0. Quite understandable coz it's a personal blog and I didn't get it listed in directories and such =) So, what about your blogs? Were the PRs downgraded or upgraded? What's a gPhone? Well, it's Google's rumored answer to Apple's widely successful iPhone! And I nearly missed it! Thank God All in Anchor had a post about it, thanks guys! =) Anyway, here's a side by side comparison of the upcoming mobile phone war:
